Passion for Healing: My Approach as a Trauma Therapist in Texas
My career in mental health began at the esteemed Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota, where I served as a Professional Addiction Counselor. My next experience, advanced my journey at the distinguished Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California, where I provided essential support to individuals facing challenges related to substance use and co-occurring disorders. Furthrmore, to enhance my expertise further, I pursued advanced training, particularly in Gestalt Therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) consequently earning certificates in both. Additionally, I completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, thus strengthening my qualifications. I then obtained a diploma as a Master Herbalist, ultimately expanding my ability to offer comprehensive and holistic care. In summary, these experiences empower me to deliver effective and well-rounded support to individuals who are seeking assistance on their mental health journeys.
Career & Experience
Over the years, I have developed co-occurring treatment programs and facilitated therapy sessions for individuals of all ages. My work includes group therapy, psychoeducation, individual counseling, and family and couples therapy—all thoughtfully designed to support healing from trauma, addiction, and emotional challenges. In addition, I have guided medical students through hands-on group therapy experiences while educating them about the disease of addiction. Furthermore, as an adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska Omaha, I taught courses on co-occurring disorders and multicultural counseling. Through these roles, I have consistently promoted inclusive, trauma-informed care and a commitment to lifelong learning.
