Over the years, Nora has successfully developed co-occurring treatment programs and facilitated therapy sessions for individuals of all ages. Specifically, her work encompasses a range of services, including group therapy, psychoeducation, individual counseling, and family and couples therapy. Each of these offerings is thoughtfully designed to support healing from trauma, addiction, and emotional challenges.
In addition, Nora has had the opportunity to guide medical students through hands-on group therapy experiences, while also educating them about the complexities of addiction. Furthermore, Nora’s role as an adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska Omaha has enabled her to teach courses on co-occurring disorders and multicultural counseling. Through these diverse roles, Nora consistently promotes inclusive, trauma-informed care. Consequently, this experience reinforces a strong commitment to lifelong learning and professional development in the mental health field.
Career & Experience
Nora’s prestigious career in mental health began at the esteemed Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota, working as a Professional Addiction Counselor. Nora then continued at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, California, supporting individuals facing substance use and co-occurring disorders. Expanding her expertise, Nora earned certifications in Gestalt Therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). Additionally, Nora completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University and received a diploma as a Master Herbalist. These achievements broadened Nora’s ability to offer holistic care. After relocating to Texas, Nora became a Licensed Clinical Counselor and founded The Magnuson Mazzoni Center. Through this initiative, a dedicated team of psychotherapists was built serving clients across the state. As a trauma therapist in Texas, Nora remains committed to helping individuals develop practical skills to manage and heal from trauma using evidence-based approaches such as EMDR and Gestalt Therapy.
