Passion & Approach
Did you know that one in five adults in the United States will experience mental illness in any given year? Addressing your mental health is extremely important, just as important as your physical health.
I am passionate about educating clients on what mental health is and their mental health needs, why mental health is important, how to define mental health, and knowing that with time, their mental health will get better in the future. This is why I love being a therapist, and my goal is to help you develop mental health awareness. Through my education and experience, I have created an eclectic, holistic approach to therapy. I support teens and adults in overcoming past trauma(s) by helping them define the term, understand trauma symptoms, and work through their traumatic experience and any experienced traumatic events, stress, various fears and phobias, phobia types, and phobia treatments. I can also assist in chronic pain treatment! My specialty focus is working on trauma involving family, childhood abuse, sexual abuse, and physical abuse, and identifying and understanding physical abuse signs, vicarious trauma, including PTSD, and identifying PTSD symptoms in veterans, women, and men.
Did you know that 60% and 66% of Americans struggle with work-life balance issues? Work-life balance is also necessary for optimal mental health, and its importance cannot be stressed enough. If you’ve ever wondered how to maintain a work-life balance, I can help you find solutions. I can also assist you in how to deal with depression, anxiety, and anxiety disorders, identify anxiety treatments, self-harm tendencies, and more!
Career & Experience
I began my career as a Professional Addiction Counselor at the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation in St. Paul, Minnesota. I transferred to work at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage, CA. I furthered my education by obtaining a certificate in Gestalt Therapy and Accelerated Resolution Therapy, my Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, and a diploma as a Master Herbalist. I have developed co-occurring treatment programs and curricula. I have supported all age groups with co-occurring group therapy, psychoeducation, individual therapy, and family/couples therapy. In addition, I have educated medical students on the disease of addiction as I guided them through an immersive experience in the group therapy process. As an adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska Omaha, I taught on co-occurring disorders and multicultural counseling in the Counseling Department.
